Pirate Queen of Omega, she's badass, enough said
Yes, her blood in the ME lore isn't red (as for most Asari), AND it's not her blood to begin with as she doesn't bleed easy and has no time to bleed lol Still, the red blood here is more of a metaphor and symbolism, in which:
1) Red blood provokes us as viewers naturally because it's reminds us of death, blood is Memento Mori; here Aria has caused and witness death prior to the moment captured in this depiction. She has been "baptizes" by death and reminders of mortality. I believe a different color blood won't make you (us humans generally) feel that way. 2) She wore a pure white jacket, when 'tainted' with blood (cultural reference) it symbolizes that she has to get her hands dirty; here instead of sitting back and giving orders, she has to grab the bull by it's horn.
This art was an effort to promote the DLC but obviously I missed out that deadline by more than a month lol; couldn't finish this in December because that was a hectic of a month where I needed to pretty much wrap up 2012. Heaps of textured brushes used, mostly what I got from ImagineFX.

This is really impressive. The grainy effect around her is certainly a good addition. I think that blue bright glow/light at the back makes it look more awesome too. :>
Many thanks for the support
Awesome that you dug this artwork, it's a special one to me

I like the idea of changing the blood colour, actually... It really works!
ONLY 18 hours? O.o
I am the vanguard of your cupcakes
It's not that detailed really, I've rushed it hence some region looking "painter-ly", so 18 hours is fair I guess.
