Parasite Eve (パラサイト・イヴ) started off as a Japanese sci-fi novel back in the 90' and is adapted into a video game series. I guess she's pretty much one of the many underrated icons for the Sony PlayStation. IMO Parasite Eve pioneered the 'action-RPG' genre - I played nothing alike it during the PS1 era. Having said, some games were art back then 
This recent third installment got me excited and reminds me of the awesome gaming time in my early youth; it hooked me up with the horror feeling of Resident Evil and the 'quick-time' RPG elements of Final Fantasy XII. But being exclusively to the PSP result in the lack of exposure from other consoles owners.

Aya is one the best created female gaming character that didn't get enough attention
I think it's because she was missing for a decade (2000~2010) where the gaming world really flourished, I hope the make a proper Parasite Eve 3, The 3rd Birthday like mentioned, is a spin-off from the series
