This is Shala, a Quarian Lady who adores our earthly trend: Punk.
For you Mass Effect aficionados, the shotgun is based on the M-300 Claymore, manufactured by the Krogan. So being able to handle such monster should hint us the badassery of this mischievous lady.

Anyway, the Mass Effect community seems rather quite these days, perhaps I should let out one of my Mass Effect '4' concept art :D

This pic is really well done. ^^

Before I read the title, though, I thought this was an alt. outfit for Tali. Damn quarians and their enviro-suits. XD

This looks pretty sick. I love the scaling you did too, especially with the claymore, it really shows that it was pretty much made for krogan with the exception of a few badass peeps, like Shala.

If it's not a secret, which graphic tablet do you use?

Thanks for the kind words :D

It's not that much of a secret since the tablet I used is 'standard issue' for digital artists: It's the Wacom Intuos5. If you're planning to get it, it comes in 4 sizes and avoid getting the smallest size (S). The 'medium'(M) size is a good balance between price and usability.

Bamboo is okay for beginners and manga art (linearts), but you can't quite paint with exquisite touches and subtle details, yes the price seems nice being around half the price of Intuos Pro or 5 Medium.
Although the intuos is a godly descent of an investment, so I very much recommend to save up and get that. You will eventually buy the Intuos in the future if you are using the Bamboo then realized it's limitation; so better buy only one tablet for better money spent

I could see a Geth version of the Claymore being carried by a Quarian.  The original Krogan weapon was supposed to be capable of breaking arms of humans, Shepard and those with strength enhancements being the exception.

I think my favorite shotgun had to be the Graal Spike Thrower.  Even the Eviscirator was a better weapon than the Claymore, at least in campaign.

Playing around in ME1, I found the best weapons were the shotguns.  Nothing beat taking down EVERYTHING in that game faster than a few well-placed patterns.

This very Quarian has a rare talent and genetics that she is able to synchronize her biotic to 'cushion' herself from the monolithic kickback of the Claymore.
Yes, Biotics and Quarians are very rare due to them being on Fleeting ships all the time. I believe she isn't Fleet-born and has biotic training earlier in her life elsewhere. It should explain the fondness of earth culture and un-Quarian-like demeanor.

Shotguns are awesome! Personally, in ME3 I played as an 'Infiltrator' and required something more 'tactical' and accurate, (playing on PC helpt big time at quick accurate shots), additionally, playing on the most difficult level I didn't haven't the opportunity to really use the shotgun as it exposes Shepard too often. I take your words it's a very satisfying weapon class :D

That was the beauty of ME3, no weapons restrictions.  Adept was great for taking down LOTS of enemies quickly.  In that final fights on Earth, I was taking down pairs of Brutes in under twenty seconds.  Mattock with stabilizer and magazine upgrades, AP ammo, and having hit each with a Warp and one with Garrus's Prox Mine.  That was crazy.  I must have done those fights over fifty times for the hell of it.

I barely ever played as an Engineer, since I'm not one for relying on my team to dish out all the major damage.  It's so wired into me to get as much of an army as possible, that I only ever did the Destroy ending once.  Even though the Control option is fairly good, I almost always went for Synthesis.  I loved giving everyone their best possible chance for survival, galaxy-wide.

Wrong, wrong, wrong!

Nobody sane puts the barrel of their gun in the dirt, that's just asking for the barrel to be plugged/jammed and for the weapon to explode in your hands/face!

Just saying you should reconsider that part.

Are you referring to our modern yet primitive gunpowder based weapon or some hypothetical futuristic and intergalactic war-proven weapon that uses plasma energy in which disintegrates any dirt matter at a sub-atomic level?
I'm not a geek or far being a guy of science, surely this weapon isn't that easily prone to catastrophic malfunction is such lame manner.

But of course thanks for sharing with us a life saving precaution when handling any long barrel firearm
Although I heard 'squib load' hapens more often than this frontal barrel jam that you mention...

I'm referring to firearms in general, not sure how "plasma" or "lasers" would react to this, but in Mass Effect the weapons used a mass accelerated metal slug (any metal would do according to the lore of the first game, just needed a block of it.)

Simply put, the metal slug being fired out of a blocked/jammed barrel would lead to a horrible malfunction of the weapon, simple as that. ^_^

You mentioned mass accelerated, which means it doesn't use pressure but super instantaneous magnetic waves to accelerate the slug, so pressure build up that consequently led to that 'pipe bomb' like explosion isn't in account.
So not sure about the exploding bit, although if that to occur, I am sure by the looks of the design that they (alien 'weapon manufacturer', and Krogans at at) has overcome much of this design flaw. Look at how fat and rigid that barrel guard! :D
lol why are we having a geeky debate?! ^^;
If I am to agree with you, still the artwork is just for the sakes of aesthetics; the characters seems rebellious and doesn't follow 'protocols' of weapon safety - it just added to the content of the artwork. Only she knows what she is doing

Fair enough, though if you do consider the velocity/speed at which the projectile is accelerated down the barrel, if it were to come into contact with foreign matter, wouldn't you think there would be some negative consequences?

Also yes, art for the sake of art.

I think this Quarian is kind of rebellious in attitude and likely to refer to herself with a short name. I don't know, I'm just an art maker ;p
Although she's looks interesting and should have more backstory to her. ;D

ME4 or not, it's too early to show the cards right now, the 'story' of this ongoing ME isn't yet structured cohesively, so any concept arts at the moment are too far out the premise and are continuously scrapped.
At least when things settled down there will be accountable 'leaks'

ME4 is on the way , progress good and all ^^
btw, its sure in ME4 we see some quarians and all, its an important part of the ME games itself

((if ME4 appear after the evenment of ME3, then we can be pretty sure to see some quarian without dat outfit ^^))

It's imminent, the only thing is, are you ready for it? :D
Sounds like an easy question, but to accept the 'new', you have to close the chapter on the 'old'; and the 'old' is that massive universe that spans across the fabric of the fandom. Not sure they are willing to let go and 'undo' all of their dedication and hardwork.

Btw, thanks for dropping by! :w00t:
